1. Name of the product

Auto-Reset Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker

2. Brief summary of the product

Auto-Reset Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker is the new generation of circuit breakers, which fixes problems that the current generation circuit breakers in the market are having. If there is a leakage, Auto-Reset Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker shuts off the power and when there is no more leakage, it automatically turns on the power.

3. How it works

+ The overload breaker and leakage breaker are separated into two components

W     + When there is an overload and short circuit, the surge protector stops the current flow.(must reset manually)

W     + When there is a leakage (over 30mA), the overload breaker starts working until there is no more leakage, and within five seconds, a relay shuts off the

             circuit.

Then an electric current starts flowing.(automatically) However, when a leakage exists, the overload breaker does not return to working condition.

W     + When operated manually, Auto-Reset Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker works in a similar fashion with the ordinary circuit breakers.(starts functioning when a

problem occurs with the leakage breaker) A surge protector is placed internally so that the other parts of the body are protected from the lightning.

              (optional)

4. Problem of previous generation of circuit breakers

Current circuit breakers in the market use Zero Phase Current Transformer to detect a leakage. However, circuit breakers with Zero phase Current Transformer also react to lightning and a sudden overload of current. In addition, they are sensitive to the surroundings and weather.(rain, fog, etc) Such conditions are not related to an electric leakage, and therefore Auto-Reset Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker automatically pulls up the latch and starts working again. It is generally known that when the circuit breakers react to other conditions except an electrical leakage, they are responding to unnecessary causes. When the circuit breakers in remote locations start functioning even though there is no leakage, personnel is needed in order for it to work again and there is a possibility that the service gets interrupted. However, Auto-Reset Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker eliminates the need of extra work and system service interruption.

6. Special features

+ Shut off

During the normal condition (when zero phase current transformer is installed in the current terminal), there is no need for a second electric current, but in case of an electric leakage, zero phase current transformer¨s second electric current occurs. After amplifying a second electric current, compare it with an electric current breakage comparator¨s fixed current. If the second electric current is greater than the fixed current (30mA), then the comparator¨s output becomes ^1, ̄ triggering the leakage breaker solenoid to shut off the power.

+ Reversion

After the main power shuts off, a returning current keeps providing AC3~30V to the load through a control section. At that moment, if the load returns to the normal state, then the output of zero phase current transformer decreases. When the returning current comparator indicates that the zero phase current transformer output is less than the returning fixed current, (one tenth of fixed current breakage) the returning current comparator output becomes ^0. ̄ Then, solenoid turns on and sends electricity to the load.

7. The Circuit

+ Controlling the overload

Install a fully digitalized (HM, ODP) overload trip so that when there is a surge and short circuit the load quickly and safely shuts the power off.

+ Surge protector (optional)

It is designed so that when a metaloxide varistor is connected between (R-E) and (T-E), the ground absorbs the current if there is a surge.

+ Zero current phase transformer

Detects a leakage using the zero current phase transformer used in other circuit breakers.

+ Leakage breaker

There are two separate components (overload breaker and leakage breaker) in Auto-Reset Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker. During the normal condition,

the leakage breaker sends electric current using solenoid and if there is an electric leakage, it again uses solenoid to shut the power off.

+ Leakage alarm

The leakage breaker shuts the power down when there is a leakage. After the shutdown, low voltage transmitter, which is parallel to the leakage breaker

provides 3~30V to the load to verify if a leakage exits in the load.

8. The use of Auto-Reset Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker

Auto-Reset Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker is generally used for unmanned electric machineries. This particular circuit breaker automatically switches on after encountering harsh environmental conditions (lightning, rain, fog, noise) that cause normal circuit breakers to interrupt the service until they are reset manually. As a result, Auto-Reset Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker minimizes the cost and works more efficiently than the current circuit breakers.

9. Circuit breakers usage in Korea

+ Telecommunication : The circuit breakers that the telecommunication companies (KTF, SK, LG) use for their transmission stations react to a noise

created by electromagnetic waves, and it creates a service interruption. However, Auto-Reset Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker auto

matically turns the power on after it is shut off due to noise. As a result, the telecommunication companies are switching from the

current circuit breakers to the new Auto-Reset Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker.

+ Internet cables : The need of engineers to reset the circuit breakers manually becomes oblivious when Auto-Reset Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker are

                              installed on the transmission stations.

+ Korea Highway Corporation : Auto-Reset Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker installed on big screen TV, CCTV and other electronics can

reset itself automatically after they are exposed to the lightning, surge and shock waves. Korea Highway Corporation

plans to replace the outdated circuit breakers within three to four years, and now requires Auto-Reset Earth Leakage

Circuit Breaker to be installed on the newly made roads.

+ Streetlights : Korean law requires circuit breakers to be installed on each streetlight since 2002. However, due to frequent system interruption, there has

been a lot of waste of human resources. Currently the law requires every streetlight to be equipped with Auto-Reset Earth Leakage Circuit

                                                           Breaker.
